Creative Promotional Photography for Polary.
This morning was so much fun as we had the chance to get creative with Enola Gaye smoke grenades for a new promotional still for up and coming band Polary.
Having not used smoke grenades before it was a good opportunity, in a controlled and safe environment, to experiment with various poses and set ups before capturing this image below. This is pretty much exactly what I had in my head before the shoot and I could not be happier with the outcome. It was captured using the Canon 5DS and Canon EF 50mm F1.2 prime lens and shot in the beautiful Forest of Dean.
The smoke was very dense so it took a few attempts before we got in to a good rhythm and started to capture something useable, taking into account wind direction was extremely important and also the angle of the grenade. Lead vocalist, Harry Ponting was able to get a steady movement going which then caused the smoke to frame them perfectly.
The weather held out just long enough to provide ideal shooting conditions to ensure a moody overall look and feel for the image. The boys were over the moon and will be publishing the image very soon so keep your eyes peeled.
If your band is thinking of having some new promotional photography done then feel free to get in touch, we always strive to push creative boundaries and ensure each project is bespoke.
